Ministerial Roundtable on Green Economy has took place on a tittle "Bridging the Gap to the Future: Advancing the Global Green Economy"

Ethiopia has took part in a Ministerial Roundtable on Green Economy took place at the sideline of COP28 at the UAE, Dubai.
The theme of the high level discusion is "Bridging the Gap to the Future: Advancing the Global Green Economy,".
The objective is to hear the implimentation report from countries that are benefiting financial support from the "Global green development institute to primote greener development and to see the scale out of the support to countries in need and a better implementation truck records.
Speaking at the round ministerial discussion, Dr. Getahun Garedew, the Director general of the Ethiopian Environmental Authority (EPA) stressed that "Ethiopia is a nation committed to environmental sustainability and economic resilience."
Dr. Getahun further outlined the mile stone achivements registered when it comes to green developement in its journey towards a green economy. These focuses are mainly on three key pillars:
1. Renewable Energy Development: Ethiopia is blessed with abundant renewable energy resources, particularly hydro, wind, and solar power. Harnessing these resources not only mitigates climate change but also propels our nation towards energy self-sufficiency and regional leadership in green energy.
2. Sustainable Agriculture: Agriculture is the backbone of Ethiopia's economy. By implementing sustainable agricultural practices, we aim to increase productivity, ensure food security, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This transformation is crucial for our rural population, who are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
3. Forestation and Conservation: Ethiopia is actively working on large-scale afforestation and reforestation initiatives, including the Green Legacy Initiative, which aims to plant billions of trees to combat deforestation and land degradation. This effort symbolizes our commitment to restoring ecosystems and enhancing biodiversity.
