Ethiopia to host the 19th regular African Ministerial Conference On The Environment (AMCEN).

The 19th regular African Ministerial Conference On The Environment (AMCEN) is about to held at Addis Ababa from 14 - 18 August, 2023.
The Director General to the Ethiopian Environmental Protection Authority H.E. Dr. Getahun Garedew briefed journalists at his office on Friday that about 49 African countries have confirmed their attendance on the 19th regular African Ministerial Conference On The Environment (AMCEN). The conference will be held from august, 14 - 18 August, 2023 at Addis Ababa Skylight Hotel under the auspices of Ethiopia.
The arrangement of the conference would have two segments. The first segment will last from Monday August 14 - 16/2023 followed by a detailed discussion by the main segment by Thursday and Friday when environment ministers of attending countries to be represented. The second segment will the session where decision-makers pass decisions based on the recommendations of technical experts.
It is also mentioned that senior personalities from United Nations institutions, from Ethiopia and partner organizations will take a stake.
Outcomes from AMCEN are mentioned to be reflected on the 28th International Conference on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to be hosted by United Arab Emirates by next year. These positions were mentioned mainly to focus on Africa's common positions and focus points on the United Nations Environment Programs' international Mandatory Plastics Laws.
About 400 participants from about 49 African countries were mentioned to participate in the upcoming continental environmental conference.
