The Ethiopian ambitious nationally determined contribution(CRGE/NDC), that has targeted to achieve 64% Green House Gas(GHG) emission reduction by 2030 compared to the 2010 baseline is under its' implementation assessment.
Embedded in the countries' Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), the Ethiopian CRGE has been in implementation across sectors where it has been mentioned as the commitment of government policy actions.
In spite of governments policy and implementation efforts, Ethiopia welcomes the NDC partnership that aims to mobilize support to accelerate Ethiopia’s' NDC implementation to achievement of the Paris Agreement (PA-2015).
Recently, the NDC support unit has carried out a scoping mission to enable the government's various sectors to prioritize their key implementation challenges, which considered the members of the partnership for technical and financial support.
Speaking on the CRGE/NDC assessment and implementation workshop hosted by Environment, Forest and Climate Change (EFCCC), his Excellency mr. Nigusu Lema, director general to Bio diversity and Climate Change Sector of EFCCC mentioned that, "Ethiopia has carried out an intensive planning, institutionalize and implementation efforts to CRGE/NDC. Mentioning different development success stories, the director general also named live challenges resulted from verities of reasons.
In this regard, ato Nigusu said that, the NDC partnership that has mapped out the challenges through its joint assessment will help us make a difference in the commission's future CRGE/NDC implementation.
In order to make effective deliveries ahead, priority actions listed identified across sectors. Sectoral implementation reports and future prospects presented to better engage and align sectoral and national intended objectives for a better implementation.
